Follow this step-by-step guide to open an account with Smarkets:

Account creation

1. Visit the Smarkets sign up page and enter an email address (also considered as your username), password and date of birth. If you have a promotion code you must enter it on this page. By clicking continue during step 1, you are accepting Smarkets' Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy & Cookie Policy.
   
   
   
   Note: We will use this email address to verify your account.
   
   
2. You will then be prompted to enter your first name, last name, currency and full address.
   
   
   
   
3. Your account will now be created. You will immediately have the option to set up deposit limits to make sure you bet within your desired amount. You will then have an opportunity to make your first deposit. Click on your preferred payment method and input the required details. These options can be skipped when setting up your account but you can deposit and set up account limits later. 
   
   

Your details

Before you can start betting you will need to enter the following details:

• Your full name
  
  
• Your date of birth 
  
  
• Your full address

Note: You can alter these settings at any time in the settings located on the Smarkets home page.

Email verification

As part of the sign-up process, you must first verify your email address. This can be done by logging into Smarkets through the link provided in the welcome email which is sent to you upon the creation of your account.

Further account verification

Due to regulatory requirements, we are required to verify the identity and address of all our users before any bets can be placed.

Where possible, Smarkets will try and verify your identity and address electronically.

Note: This will not leave a trace on credit files and won't affect your credit rating.

If your account cannot be verified electronically, we will contact you by email to verify your account by providing us with photo ID and proof of address. This article details all accepted documents for verification. 

Note: You will not be able to place bets till your account is fully verified.
